Back on the Nokia tip - these illustrations have been done by Spanish studio HEY in collaboration with Design Studio. Have to say we like them a lot!
Great promo animation by Umbro for their new ‘Black Out’ range for the New York Cosmos. Based on the New York black out of ‘77 and the arrival of Cosmos defender Carlos Alberto Torres, who also narrates the animation. Look forward to seeing the NY Cosmos taking to the field as part of the MLS sometime soon.
Finally the iPhone may have a serious contender in the new Nokia N9. It seems Nokia have invested some serious time and consideration in their approach to their new device. Rather than ripping the look of the iPhone they’re started from the ground up. Even the Ui & icons (designed by Design Studio) have been created with the new N9’s considered approach. Tempted?
What’s better than a nice bit of type…? A lovely selection of 3D type/signage of course! These would make a great addition to an interior of any home.
The new tease poster for The Dark Knight Rises looks great! Can’t wait for the film… to be released next year.

Last weekend saw the end of the Design Museum’s Wim Crouwel retrospective. The exhibition celebrates the career of the Dutch designer. Spanning six decades of Crouwel’s work from his foundation all the way through to setting up the studio ‘Total Design’. For a graphic designer this was a must see, and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed.
Walking around you really got the sense of Wim’s passion, craft and development. The exhibition included a short video interview, which gave great insight to his rather humble character. With him basing most of his luck down to being in the right place at the right time.
The show was guest curated by Tony Brook from London agency Spin and was displayed superbly. I left feeling truly inspired and glad I’d made the 4hr drive to see it before it closed. Sorry to those who missed it, get a feeling of it by buying this book:
